Valhalla, New York  Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center is much more than a spectacular setting for advanced health care. At the heart of this new state-of-the-art facility is a dedicated group of physicians, nurses, allied health practitioners, technologists and staff who have devoted their careers to assuring that the clinical care provided to children and their families here equals the superlative physical environment. More than 150 outstanding physicians, representing virtually every field of pediatric medicine and surgery, have joined together with community-based physicians from around the entire region to carry out Maria’s wish for the health and well-being of children everywhere.As part of Westchester Medical Center, an academic health affiliate of New York Medical College, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital is also a major teaching facility. The staff is involved in research, developing tomorrow’s treatments and in training the children’s health care providers of tomorrow in the arts and sciences of pediatric medical care. This is delivered under a philosophy that acknowledges that families are important participants on the team at the Children’s Hospital. Family-centered care is at the core of our mission and all Children's Hospital students, residents and other trainees learn that the active involvement of families in the healing process - whatever the illness - is an important part of helping children recover and stay well. |
